Co-founder
2010–2015
Started in 2010, I co-founded OpenIDEO.com with Tom Hulme and Haiyan Zhang. We wanted to take the way that IDEO has innovated for 40 years and put it online for everyone to take part in making a dent in big systemic challenges like women's health, sanitation, and climate change.
Highlights
- Built community of 100,000+ people from almost all the world's countries
- Won the prestigious Webby award, beating Twitter to the community category
- Secured major partnership with DFID (now Amplify) – the largest project IDEO had ever sold at the time
- Helped grow the business, hire the team and evolve challenge management
OI Engine
2012–2014
White-label open innovation platform extending IDEO's value beyond consulting.

Co-founder & CEO
2012–2014
Co-founded and was CEO for this software business to extend IDEO's value beyond consulting. Doubled revenue and led the business to reach break-even. Responsibilities included board relations, public speaking, and growing the business.

Generali

Large-scale innovation transformation for Italian insurance giant.

Program Lead, IDEO
2014–2017
Led a large transformation program to help Italian insurance giant Generali deliver against its innovation goals. IDEO and Generali had a three year relationship which resulted in multiple new service propositions, some of which have since gone to market, as well as an innovation capability in the form of a network spanning a central competency centre and regional companies.

Organisation Design Lead, IDEO
2010–2011
Lars Hinrichs had a vision: to spark a movement of startups in Europe. But the ecosystem in Europe was very different to Silicon Valley – it required a different approach. IDEO was brought on board to design and build the organisation and its value proposition from scratch. I led the organisation design component, helping to figure out the recruitment model, staffing, competencies, and how internal values would support the external brand.
Highlights
- Launched in 2010 and ran successfully for three years
- Helped at least 14 successful startups come to life
- Alumni include Infogr.am, Cobook, and FlockOfBirds
- Designed unique approach for European startup ecosystem

Design Improv uses a kit of instruction cards (suggesting improv games and techniques) and props (like Velcro shapes and mats) which aid the creation, testing and development of interaction design-related products and services. Originally developed as my master's thesis, it became a workshop format I ran for clients and design schools.
Highlights
- Delivered workshops for the Design Council and Hasbro
- Picked up by UAL Central Saint Martins for their product design program
- Used to help students win international France Telecom competition
- Game platform allowing designers and non-designers to speak the same language

Collabolla
2006
A game that changes how you think about collaboration.

Collabolla takes the controls of a familiar 80s arcade game, PacMan, and divides them up between two players, forcing them to work together to complete the game. To make it more fun, players control PacMan using inflatable Space Hoppers. Created with Simone Pia and Jennifer Bove.
